Why Navara Blow Black Smoke
Переглядів 154 тис.6 років тому
Why Navara Blow Black Smoke Its one of the most common questions we get; Why does my navara blow black smoke? The primary reason for this is that they are very close to the AFR limit of what will blow smoke from the factory, whereas other manufacturers are not. So basically, things don’t have to start going wrong by a lot before it’s a visible issue. So what can be contributing issues? Lets hav...

How Common Rail ECU work out Injection Volumes
Merci pour ces explications.
I commend your explanation, very clear and concise but in layman's term. Well done!
Can you do a detailed video on the 1gd egr and their common leak faults.
Hey Matty. Congratulations on your new channel, I'm looking forward to hearing your views from your extensive experience. Just some food for thought that might assist in people staying with you, if you indicate your going to link info to your vids, please do so.
Love it Thankyou
Many of the D40's getting around blowing black smoke are simply down on boost pressure from neglect (dirty air filter / split hot-side intake hoses / dirty intercooler core / holes in the boost control vacuum lines (early models) etc etc. Restoring the factory boost pressure (actual delivered boost) fixes the poor combustion & smoke. One of the simplest & most important things to fit to your Nav is a boost gauge! If you see boost not being delivered, you will get black smoke because of incomplete combustion and/or poor AFR. Many owners drive around for ages without realising the boost pressure at the manifold is low.
I’m getting a suction control valve installed in my GF asap
I was going to comment on how there's at least 3 diesel engines in Navaras - ZD30, YD25 & YS23. Then I noticed that the title is '2024 version'. Fair enough. It does look like they share some common parts but I assume the 2.3l is quite different as its a Nissan/Renault engine, not just Nissan. I have a Patrol with the ZD30 so this isn't all relevant to me. I've had the EGR valve off fairly recently when I did the injectors and a carbon clean and it was closed so at least it isn't mechanically stuck open. Still get a bit of soot but I know I have a valve on cyl. 4 out of spec, so that may be the cause.
quick and straight to the point , thanks .
Cheers - I always wondered about this!
love ya work Matty
Interesting Also, your face looks like someone "recomended" you to have that opinion😅
haha. Got the face for Radio ;)
@@DieselGeeksOzim just curious. What happened to your eye?
Look foward to seeing this move fowards, and would love to be involved. Couldnt agree more!
Hey @darrenjlobb - thanks for the comments, mate. We're working bloody hard on getting the information together and out into the marketplace & building our website.
PCV Valve? I have just installed a reconditioned 2.5TD. Driven less than 400km she has started to blow smoke, (I think it is black), the mechanic has been back out to look at her and has blamed the PCV valve and now I need to replace the rocker cover ($250) due to the PCV being built into the cover. Work to date- recon motor (HMgem), New injectors, fuel pump, blanked off EGR, MAF, SCV, and all filters replaced.. Are these guys pulling my leg!
I'm sorry to say, but it's a hard one to comment on. My 'commercial' opinion is to probably change the suggested part at this time, and see how things got on. Keep us posted mate.
Current update: The nav lasted a week, and the turbo (garett GT2056v) snapped its shaft. The motor began to run over. (Running on her own oil) Car has been in the workshop for three weeks now. I have no idea about the damage done yet. Apparently, the intercooler and manifolds are full of oil and turbo needs to be replaced.
Far out @seancampbell3381 that's unreal. keep us posted and let us know if we can offer and help.
@DieselGeeksOz car has been returned, seems to run ok, no rattles. Turbo is very quiet compared to my old one. It almost seems like it's a lower boost. Problem she blows white smoke again .only while accelerating in low gears off the lights or reversing. But no smoke on the freeway while cruising at 110knh in 6th. You can only see it at night in headlights, not obviousduring the day. I'm not sure what to do. Lubemobile has cost me a lot more than the cars' worth. Shattered!!
@@seancampbell3381 to be fair mate, an older diesel will almost always have that haze visible from the headlights behind at night time. I'd send them the comment in the email so that it's logged, but tell them that you'll put 10,000-20,000kms on it and see how things go. Best case, motor beds in properly and it goes away, or it gets worse and it needs attention.
Very well explained, great video!
Glad you liked it!
Hey there can I just if U would know why my Navara D40 be blown black smoke n losses power please
The whole video is about that haha, I'm happy to help if you can give me some more specifics!
Can injector cleaner fix it ?
Depends on the issue. IF its a EGR failure or split intake pipe for example, its like throwing a shot glass at a bush fire. Nothing doing. It can help however if you've had an issue which was causing the engine to soot. This soot - even if you've now fixed the root cause, will have 'carboned' up the engine. Removing this carbon will help. Some injector cleaners are good for this, as is a hydrogen based carbon clean.
My QD32 blows white smoke during take off and slowing down. It's an old boy but lesser or no smoke when on speed at 4th gear. Any help would do
Boost is life brother! haha Higher loads make the average boost levels higher, and the higher engine RPMs help those older injection systems build up more injection pressure. Very common symptom of the tech of that day.
What a great way to explain the product !
Excellent explanation . I’m chasing a imv dtc on a 2.4 transit - you made it much easier to understand , thank you
Very welcome! thanks for the comment!
Yes yes please tel me when i'm starting my navara up in the morning there blue smoke egr is block and itz Dcat it looks like it hapen only when its very cold but when i'm driving there's no smoke and tel me what blue smoke is and what black smoke is
Hey Denzill; Blue smoke on start up is the engine burning oil i'm sorry to say. Its possible that its valve stem seals and not necessarily rings, but its an expensive fix either way and therefore best to get a good mechanic to work out exactly what it is for you. UA-cam mechanics can only get so far without seeing the car. Best of luck mate. Keep us posted!
Hahah but again we don’t recommend it lol
How would u know if pressure pipe has a leak. Can one change the pressure sernsor on the injector pump in place .
thank you...
I have a 2009 titanium edition navara. It blows black smoke and in second gear I have virtually no power. I put my foot flat to the floor and it blows a heap of black smoke then it eventually takes off. Really annoying as I need to tow a trailer
Blocked my egr and now I'm racing again without black smoke.
The pipe expanding is not the intake pipe mate...its the turbo hot pipe...expanding under boost..but I am sure you know that..😉
Can I blank 2006 Spain built Navara
